COLUMBIA, S.C. — AVM Group, a leading national provider of turnkey controlled environments, today announced it is establishing its national headquarters in Charleston County. The company’s $5 million investment will create 30 new jobs.

Founded in 1983, AVM Group designs, engineers and installs controlled environments, specializing in cleanrooms, dry rooms, sensitive compartmented information facilities (SCIFs), and advanced electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radiation shielding.

At its new 12,000-square-foot headquarters facility, located on Wingo Way in Mount Pleasant, AVM Group will conduct design, engineering, and research and development operations for new controlled environment construction projects. The company’s South Carolina operation will also support specialized operational and manufacturing functions conducted at its existing site in Ohio.

AMAROK is a leader in the commercial security industry, providing integrated electric fencing solutions along with video surveillance and monitoring, access control, lighting, and more. Founded in 1973 and currently headquartered in downtown Columbia, the company began as a small, family-owned business. AMAROK has grown into a national industry leader serving clients in 49 states, employing more than 600 people nationwide and partnering with organizations such as Penske, John Deere, Nike and many others.

To accommodate its growing local workforce, the company is constructing a new 125,000-square-foot headquarters facility, which will be located at the corner of Freed Street and Boyce Street in Columbia in the BullStreet District.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Shamrock Technologies, Inc. (Shamrock), a global leader in specialty additives, today announced it is relocating its corporate headquarters as part of the company’s expansion in Laurens County. The company’s $39.6 million investment will create 57 new jobs.

Shamrock produces and distributes micronized wax and other specialty additives used in coatings, inks, greases and lubricants. The company established operations in South Carolina in 2022 with the purchase of a manufacturing facility that produces micronized wax, dispersions, emulsions and related products.

Shamrock’s new facility will be located at 101 Connexial Blvd. in Gray Court. Upon completion of offices, research and development labs, a pilot plant, and a fully functioning warehouse and production space, the company will relocate its New Jersey headquarters to the South Carolina site.

The meeting underscores South Carolina’s growing relationship with the United Kingdom, catalyzed by the December 2022 memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the two. Most recently, a South Carolina delegation toured England to advance opportunities in procurement, health and life sciences, and transportation and infrastructure.

The SC Nexus for Advanced Resilient Energy (SC NEXUS), South Carolina’s Regional Technology and Innovation Hub (Tech Hub), named Cristina Paredes the tech hub’s inaugural executive director Thursday, Aug. 1, 2024. An accomplished economic development professional, Paredes brings over two decades of experience in leadership and consulting to the advanced resilient energy consortium.

“The opportunity SC NEXUS represents for our state, nation and the world means South Carolina can lead the way in ensuring grid resiliency for a more secure future, and there is no better person than Cristina Paredes to help the tech hub continue to grow and achieve the type of speed to market necessary for not only meeting today’s power needs, but those of tomorrow,” said Secretary of Commerce Harry M. Lightsey III.
